ICYMI: Monique Blanco Boulet enters Mayor President Runoff with MO'Mentum

LAFAYETTE, LA — On Election Day, Monique Blanco Boulet (R-Lafayette) finished second in the race for Lafayette Mayor-President, receiving 34% of votes and securing her spot in a runoff against incumbent Josh Guillory.

“We have the momentum and we know exactly why," said Boulet. "Everyone who wants new leadership is getting behind our effort and we are going to finish this thing strong and get work for every family in Lafayette Parish on the priorities that matter most to our people: public safety, infrastructure and flood control, and a better economy with good jobs.”

Boulet has contrasted herself with opponent Guillory throughout the campaign and found success with a base of supporters from all across Lafayette, people who want new leadership and are tired of corruption. Boulet addressed supporters and voters Saturday night at her Lafayette watch party.

"The people of Lafayette Parish — throughout the city of Lafayette, from the Southside to the Northside, from Broussard to Carencro, Duson, Scott, Youngsville to the citizens in Milton and Judice — we have spoken loud and clear,” said Boulet. “We are saying NO to corruption, NO to waste, and NO to mismanagement!”

Boulet is a proven leader who led the Acadiana Planning Commission (APC), growing it from an agency in crisis to one of the most successful in the nation. Boulet will do the same as Mayor-President. Monique left her role as head of APC to focus on the race to replace scandal-ridden Guillory as Mayor-President.

Local election coverage is compiled below. Early voting for the runoff will be Nov. 3-11. Election Day is Nov. 18.
