Homewood Scandal becomes subject of Mayor President campaign
LAFAYETTE, LA — As Election Day looms, the Homewood Scandal has taken center stage in the heated November Runoff between Lafayette Mayor President candidates Monique Blanco Boulet (R-Lafayette) and incumbent Josh Guillory. Monique Blanco Boulet has unleashed a powerful ad campaign, targeting her opponent's corruption, waste and mismanagement of parish resources.
"The day after announcing the Homewood Detention Pond would move forward, Josh Guillory and his wife formed an equipment rental company providing the same type of equipment needed for the project," the ad says. "Then, four days before Guillory unlawfully seized private property to build the detention pond, their company was put in his cousin’s name, leaving no trace of the Guillorys on the active public record."
It concludes, "Josh Guillory may be good at corruption. But he’s really bad at hiding it."
The campaign, which includes corresponding radio, mail, and digital advertising buys, exposes misconduct and unethical behavior by the Guillory administration.
The ad sheds light on the timeline of events surrounding the Homewood Detention Pond, emphasizing a questionable connection between Josh Guillory and an equipment rental company. The script details how, following the announcement of the Homewood Detention Pond project, Guillory and his wife allegedly formed a company providing equipment necessary for the project. The company was set up to be a middleman between contractors and rental companies.
The ad notes that Guillory and his wife removed their names from the company's public record, and the company was put in his cousin's name just days before Josh's illegal seizure of private property for the detention pond.
