ICYMI: Blanco Boulet flexes fundraising muscle in latest campaign reports
LAFAYETTE, LA — Monique Blanco Boulet (R-Lafayette) is giving incumbent Mayor-President Josh Guillory a run for his money, raising $50,000 more than Guillory in 2023. As reported by The Advocate, Boulet reported over $270,000 in campaign contributions, while Guillory reported just over $220,000. Jan Swift reported only $161,000 in contributions.
Candidates were required to file campaign finance reports with the Louisiana Ethics Administration last week, detailing campaign contributions and spending from Jan. 1 to Sept. 4 and totaling the remaining balance candidates have left to spend before the primary election on Oct. 14.
Boulet received campaign contributions from several prominent figures in the Acadiana region, including:
$1,500 from Fred Mills' committee
$1,500 from Lafayette Parish Assessor Conrad Comeaux and $2,500 from his campaign account
$1,500 from former Lake Charles Mayor Willie Mount's campaign
$2,500 from local attorney Glenn Armentor
$1,000 from Charles Fenstermaker, President of C. H. Fenstermaker & Associates
Boulet also stands out as the only candidate who is putting her money where her mouth is: Boulet reported loaning around $50,000 in personal funds to support her campaign.
At the time of filing of these reports, Boulet's campaign has spent $101,000 with over $230,000 available to spend in the final month before the primary.
Early voting for the primary election runs every day except Sunday from Sept. 30 to Oct. 7. Election Day is Oct. 14.
