Monique’s Values
Monique is committed to building a community where families feel safe from crime and from flooding, growing and supporting our vibrant business environment and putting education and workforce training at the forefront of our priorities. All of this while leveraging the best of Broussard, Carencro, Duson, Lafayette, Scott and Youngsville as the hub of Acadiana and the center of culture and business growth for the state of Louisiana.
Flood Prevention
Monique understands how to develop effective watershed and drainage solutions while making smart decisions with our taxpayer money for flood protection that will actually protect us. Developing relationships with local, state and federal agencies and following process not only protects our taxpayer dollars, it brings in resources and expertise that will improve drainage and flood outcomes now and for years to come.
Safe Community
Our Mayor President must be committed to building a safe community. We must support those leading our law enforcement agencies as they build our police force and protect our citizens. Respecting, supporting and keeping politics out of the day-to-day job of our Police Chief is critical as they work to make our streets safer.
Vibrant Business Environment
Today we have extraordinary businesses built and run out of Lafayette; from those that span the world with their impact to those that make up the fabric of our day-to-day life. Our work ethic, our innovation and love of life defines what makes Acadiana a great place to do business.
Understanding the oil & gas landscape while recruiting all energy players is critical to making sure Lafayette remains a leader in the energy sector.
New emerging sectors such as advanced manufacturing and IT will play a vital role in what our future economy looks like. Monique will leverage her economic development experience to focus on the foundation Lafayette provides as the center of Acadiana and a major growth area of Louisiana.
Education & Workforce
Education and workforce training must be at the forefront of our priorities in Lafayette in order to promote stable and well-paying jobs for our people. Our future starts in our pre-schools and must be supported through our community college and university systems. Organizations like Love our Schools set an example for all to follow. We must make sure the details are taken care of, for our children and for our future.
Infrastructure & Development
The construction of the I-49 Connector, developing our gateways, and revitalizing the core of our parish are critical in guiding our future growth. As the I-49 construction project goes online, we must protect our neighborhood atmosphere, northside developments and our urban core. With strong leadership, the rebuilding of the Evangeline Thruway will set a new direction for the Northside, for downtown and for the entire Parish.
We love our parish, our cities, our people and our culture. The entryways of Louisiana Avenue, I-49, University Avenue, Ambassador Caffery, Scott and Duson should communicate our unique passion for the culture we all cherish.
